Complementary, Not Competitive
Datuma vs Cognism
Cognism is excellent for European mobile numbers and GDPR-compliant prospecting. Datuma complements Cognism. We score your existing CRM data for quality and AI-readiness. Cognism helps you find new contacts; Datuma helps you understand which of your existing contacts you can trust.
Cognism finds the contacts. Datuma checks each one live against LinkedIn, the moment you run it.
You act on what's true today, not when the database was last refreshed. About 10p a contact, priced in pounds, not credits.
Score before you spend
Cognism is excellent at what it does: phone-verified mobile numbers, Diamond Data verification, and European data coverage that respects GDPR. If your team needs verified phone numbers for outbound calling, Cognism delivers.
But Cognism credits are valuable. Every lookup costs money. And without an integrity layer in front, those credits get spent on contacts you already have in your CRM, contacts who've left the organisation, and contacts at domains you shouldn't be calling because they're existing customers.
Datuma scores your CRM data before you send it to Cognism for enrichment. Duplicates are caught. Protected accounts are separated. Contacts who've changed role or organisation are flagged. You spend Cognism credits only on contacts that need them. And Datuma itself is priced in pounds, not credits, with no subscription and no platform fee: you see the exact cost in pounds before you approve a batch.
Datuma is free to start: your first 100 contacts are free, no card. An optional £0.03 per row first pass finds duplicates, separates protected accounts, and flags obviously dead records (this is not enrichment). Enrichment is about £0.10 per enriched contact (up to £0.226), while duplicates cost £0.00 and protected accounts are separated into their own file. Maintenance is £49.99 per user per year, and for a whole CRM the Done With You programme starts at £2,550.
The two tools also do different jobs. Cognism finds you new contacts. Datuma improves the data on the contacts you already have, so your spend goes on making your own records trustworthy, not on buying more strangers.

How Datuma saves Cognism credits
Consider a team uploading 1,000 contacts for Cognism enrichment. Without Datuma, all 1,000 consume Cognism credits. With Datuma running first:
~80
Duplicates caught at £0.00
~40
Protected accounts separated at £0.00
~60
Role or organisation changes flagged for review
Datuma's £0.03 per contact first pass finds those duplicates, protected accounts and obviously dead records before you spend a single Cognism credit. These figures are illustrative; your actual numbers depend on the state of your CRM data. Upload a sample to see your own duplicate rate and protection count.
